  2. Comprehension: Possible answers: eye contact, nodding, asking follow-up questions, encouraging comments; body language can show interest or discomfort before words are processed; wait, listen, then connect your reply to the other person’s idea.
  3. Grammar: 1 carefully, 2 clearly, 3 politely, 4 patiently, 5 warmly.
  4. Listening: follow-up question, encouraging response, and connecting to the other person’s idea. Final question: “What do you enjoy most about it?”

Listening script

Mia: I started learning to cook Thai food last month. Leo: Really? That sounds interesting. What made you choose Thai food? Mia: I love the flavours, and my neighbour showed me one easy recipe. Leo: My neighbour cooks a lot too. I like trying new food, but I have never made Thai food myself. What do you enjoy most about it?
