Speaking responses vary. Look for relevant answers, reasons and turn-taking. Model one response and offer sentence frames as needed.

7. Writing

Look for 60–80 words, relevant details, connected ideas and the requested language. Accept other sensible responses.

Possible model: I am walking along a quiet beach in the late afternoon. The sea is bright blue, and small white waves are moving towards the shore. I can hear seabirds calling above me. The air smells salty, and a cool breeze touches my face. The sand feels soft under my feet. Two children are building a sandcastle near the water. I feel peaceful as I watch them.
