The library illustration is an imagined scene, not a photograph of Tūranga. Read the listening script from the teacher answers twice. Learners can plan a visit without visiting the library.

6. Listening and speaking
Read this script twice at a clear, natural pace. Allow learners to read the questions first.
Mia and Leo are planning a visit to Tūranga on Saturday. They will meet outside the library at eleven o’clock. First, they will look for easy English books. After that, they will read together for half an hour. Leo is interested in the creative spaces, so they will ask a librarian about them. They will leave at twelve thirty.

Speaking responses vary. Look for relevant answers, reasons and turn-taking. Model one response and offer sentence frames as needed.

Look for 60–80 words, relevant details, connected ideas and the requested language. Accept other sensible responses.
Possible model: Hi Hana, would you like to visit Tūranga with me on Saturday? Let’s meet outside at eleven o’clock. We can look for easy English books and read together. Then we can ask about the creative spaces. Could you bring your notebook, please? I want to write down some useful new words. We can leave at twelve thirty and have lunch nearby. Let me know if this plan suits you.
