The Wise and Foolish Builders — Teacher Answers

A2–B1 · 45–60 minutes · Matthew 7:24–27

A parable is a teaching comparison. Keep the original meaning clear: hearing and practising Jesus’ teaching. Broader examples about study habits are applications rather than claims about the passage.

1–2. Goals and reading

Invite predictions, then read the retelling aloud. Students reread and find evidence. Explain unfamiliar words. This text is a simplified adaptation, not a direct quotation.

3. Vocabulary

1–C; 2–F; 3–A; 4–E; 5–D; 6–B. Original sentences vary.

4. Understanding

  1. Rock.
  2. Sand.
  3. Rain fell, rivers rose and winds blew.
  4. The house on rock.
  5. Its foundation was on rock.
  6. It fell with a great crash.
  7. Someone who hears Jesus’ teaching and puts it into practice.

5. Language focus

because; so; so; because

6–7. Speaking and writing

Answers vary. Look for relevant ideas, clear reasons and the target language. Offer sentence frames as needed. Assess communication and reading understanding; students do not need to affirm a religious belief.

8. Puzzle or game

A–3; B–1; C–2. C is a language-learning application, not an event in the Bible passage.

9–10. Reflection and final response

Check the main events against the reading. Look for at least two relevant details, correct use of target language, and a clear explanation. Accept different supported applications while distinguishing them from the passage’s original meaning.
