Before you read:

Look at the title. What do you know about notes and oral presentation? Tell a partner one idea.

The class has ten minutes to prepare a one-minute presentation about a local place. Priya chooses the public library. She writes three headings: location, what people can do there, and why it matters. She finds information in a library leaflet and checks the opening hours on the library’s own notice. Instead of copying full sentences, she writes short notes in her own words. She practises speaking from the notes, looks up between ideas and finishes with a clear final sentence. Her partner listens and asks one question afterwards.
