The Community Garden

Read the passage, then answer the questions.
Name: Date:
The Community Garden

Every Sunday, a group of neighbours works in a community garden behind the local hall. The garden was once an empty piece of land, but now it is full of vegetables, herbs and flowers.

Leila joined the group three months ago. She usually waters the tomatoes and pulls weeds from around the beans. An older neighbour, Mr Chen, has taught her how to grow herbs without using chemical sprays.

The gardeners share most of the food they grow. Each person takes a small amount home, and extra vegetables are given to a nearby food bank. Children from the neighbourhood sometimes visit and learn where food comes from.

Leila says the garden is useful, but she also enjoys meeting people she did not know before.
